Anyone can be affected by mental health challenges, whether you are a teenager, student, parent, or employee. According to WHO (World Health Organization), nearly 1 billion people struggle with mental health disorders. Only a small percent of the 1 billion actually have access to quality mental health services. The theme for this year's World Mental Health Day is ensuring that mental health and well-being become a global priority. For this to happen, individuals need to understand the impact their mental health has on their day-to-day lives. Dr. Sara Hassan, a General Physician at the 91直播 clinic, mentions that understanding one’s own mental status and discovering ways to express thoughts and emotions are two fundamental factors in leading a healthy life.
Here are a few tips on how you can focus on your mental health:
The people who give you energy and the people you love could have a huge impact on your mental health. Connecting with them in person rather than just connecting through social media can help improve your health. Sharing your feelings, thoughts, and emotions with your family and friends is often a great and effective way to manage stress.
If there is a specific song that uplifts you, listen to it. If going for a drive makes you feel better, do it. If using a stress ball helps you calm down, get one.
Being physically active on a regular basis has often improved stress levels for many people around the world. It allows you to de-compress, get better sleep, drink more water, and be present in the moment. If you are someone who does not enjoy going to the gym for exercise, then go for walks by the beach, in a park, or in any environment that you find relaxing.
Even when you are too busy, make some time to de-compress; watch a movie, cook a meal, read a book or do anything else that helps you relax and unwind.
Find activities that will give you purpose. Getting involved in activities like volunteering or teaching, and doing things that give you a sense of purpose and fulfillment helps bring you inner peace.
To help boost your mental health, have a balanced meal daily. Including fruits and vegetables in your diet will help you feel healthier and maintain your energy levels throughout the day!
Sleeping does wonders for your brain and body. Getting a good sleep allows you to recharge and rejuvenate. Try to get at least 8 hours of sleep a night. Set a time to go to bed and wake up each day and follow it consistently.

Take a moment to reflect daily on your mental health. Start a journal or jot notes on your phone, clearing the clutter in your mind will help you think clearer and improve your focus. Dr. Sara Hassan says that it takes time and training to grow comfortable in expressing certain thoughts and feelings.
"Your mental health is a priority.
Your inner peace is a priority.
Your self-care is a priority.
Your happiness is a priority.
You matter."
