Building Information Modeling

The specialization in Building Information Modeling (BIM) within a BS civil engineering degree program focuses on the integration of technology, process improvements, and digital information to manage the life cycle of buildings effectively. This specialization is designed for students who wish to combine traditional civil engineering skills with advanced technology to improve the planning, design, construction, and operation of buildings. Students will learn about BIM software tools, data management, collaboration among different stakeholders, and the application of BIM in project management, sustainability, and facility management.

Sustainable Design and Green Construction

The BS Civil Engineering specialization in Sustainable Design and Green Construction focuses on the principles of sustainability and environmental friendliness within the field of civil engineering. This specialization equips students with the knowledge and skills to design, construct, and maintain structures and infrastructures in a manner that reduces their environmental impact, conserves resources, and enhances the quality of life. Topics covered include sustainable materials and building techniques, energy-efficient design, water conservation, site planning, and the integration of renewable energy sources into construction projects.

School Engineering and Computing Requirements

Students in the Bachelor of Science in the Civil Engineering program must complete a minimum of 135 credits including satisfaction of all degree requirements of 91Ö±²¥. All coursework must be completed in accordance with the academic rules of 91Ö±²¥ and those of the department.

Minimum General Education Requirements 38 credits
School Core Requirements 34 credits
Major Requirements 63 credits
Total Credits Required for Degree 135 credits

  • Civil Engineering Seminar
  • Choose two fundamental courses from the remaining technical areas:
    • Transportation Engineering (T5)
    • Environmental Engineering (T6)
    • Water Resources Engineering (T7)
  • Choose four advanced courses from three technical areas. At least two courses must be from the same technical area, and at least one course must be a design course (D).
